Financial Aid & Scholarships
SMCHS offers several need-based financial aid opportunites as well as academic and leadership scholarships.
Need-based financial aid at St. Monica Catholic High School is granted solely on the basis of family need and the availability of funds. Typically, forms to request need-based financial aid are available in the finance office in December for the following school year.
Academic scholarships are offered to the top 5 scorers on the entrance exam at SMCHS. Only those prospective students that test at St. Monica on January 30, 2010 are eligible for this scholarship.
Leadership Scholarships are offered to 5 incoming freshmen and are awarded based on the applicants' leadership in activities, athletics, and/or community service during their elementary school experience. Applications for thse scholarship are due on February 3, 2010 and are available below.
Need-Based Financial Aid
SMCHS strongly recommends that families begin the financial aid process early. St. Monica Catholic High School uses the Private School Aid Service (PSAS) to evaluate, rank and award applicants according to financial need of the applicants who submit their applications on time. Once the financial aid funds have been exhausted, no more financial aid is disbursed.
Need-based financial aid awards do not renew automatically each year. Families receiving financial aid one year must reapply each year in order to be considered for a new financial aid award.
Private School Aid Service (PSAS) Tuition Award Information
St. Monica Catholic High School utilizes the Private School Aid Service to determine financial aid eligibility and distribution amounts for all SMCHS need-based financial aid awards. English and Spanish forms are typically available in the finance office beginning in late November/early December for eligibility for the following school year.
Please note: PSAS forms must be mailed directly to PSAS for processing. SMCHS will not accept process forms turned in to the school.
Catholic Education Foundation (CEF) Tuition Award Information
In addition to the scholarships and tuition assistance provided by St. Monica Catholic High School (by qualifying for need-based financial aid through the PSAS form), the Catholic Education Foundation (CEF) offers partial tuition awards to families demonstrating financial need. CEF tuition award applications are typically available beginning in the late fall
Jason Matthews Scholarship
Jason Matthews, from the class of 1987, provides a $2,500 scholarship (renewable for four years) to one incoming freshman with demontrated leadership and financial need. Applications for the Jason Matthews Scholarship are available beginning in the fall are typically due in early February.

Academic Scholarships
St. Monica Catholic High School will offer five academic scholarships of $8,000* each, payable over four years. Any 8th grade student taking the entrance exam on the first administration at SMCHS who successfully completes the admissions process is automatically considered for the academic scholarship Awards will first be based on the highest scores on the entrance exam taken on site at the initial administration. In the case of a tie, the Admissions Committee will evaluate 7th and 8th grade academic achievement and coursework in order to determine the five awardees.
Leadership Scholarships
SMCHS will offer five leadership scholarships of $8,000* each, payable over four years. Applicants must submit the completed application with one letter of recommendation from a supervisor who can attest to the contributions and demonstrated leadership of the candidate. To be considered, applicants must complete the entrance examination at SMCHS on the first administration at SMCHS and submit all required scholarship information by the deadline listed on the application (typically early February). The Admissions Committee will determine the recipients who are notified by mail.
