Application Process
We invite you to take a look at the typical admission process at St. Monica Catholic High School. Please do not hesitate to contact the admissions office if you have any questions.
Typical Admissions Process
1) Application
Complete the SMCHS Online Application by clicking here. After January 15, 2010, the application fee increases to $75.00. Receipt of the completed SMCHS Applicant Information Form and application fee reserves the applicant’s seat for the SMCHS High School High Entrance Exam.
2) Teacher’s Recommendation
Print the Teacher Recommendation Form. Print the applicant’s name on the form. Give the form to the applicant’s teacher of your choice along with a pre-addressed, stamped envelope.
3) School Report
Print the School Report Form. Print the applicant’s name on the form. Give the form to the applicant’s principal, head of school or dean of students with a pre-addressed, stamped envelope.
4) Transcripts
Print the Authorization for Transfer of Records Form. Print and sign the applicant’s name on the form. The form must be signed by the parent/guardian and given to the current school’s registrar’s office. The most up-to- date grades, citizenship marks, and standardized test scores should be submitted to SMCHS by the applicant’s current school.
5) Entrance Exam
Applicant must complete the High School Placement Test (HSPT). Applicant will also be asked to complete a short, spontaneous writing sample during the entrance exam.
Only students who complete the High School Placement Test (HSPT) at SMCHS on January 30, 2010 will be eligible for consideration in our first round of admissions and for financial aid allocation in their freshman year. However, any continuing student may apply for financial assistance in April for the following school year.
6) Interview
Applicant and parent(s) will be interviewed by a member of the Admissions Committee.
Transfer applicants will be contacted to schedule appointments for the HSPT and the interview after receipt of the application and application fee.
Incomplete application folders cannot be evaluated. Applications, supporting materials, transcripts, and school reports should be submitted to the Admissions Office as soon as possible.
St. Monica Catholic High School, mindful of our mission to be a witness to the love of Christ for all, admits students regardless of race, color, disability, gender, or national/ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to our students. While SMCHS does not discriminate against students with special needs, and makes minor adjustments to accommodate students with disabilities, a full range of services may not always be available to them. Decisions concerning the admission and continued enrollment of a student in the school are based upon the student’s emotional, academic, and physical abilities and the resources available to the school in meeting the student’s needs.
