SMCHS Distinguished Speaker Series Welcomes Marcellus Wiley ‘92 and Barbara Alexander

Marcellus Wiley ‘92, former NFL defensive end and three time NFL Pro Bowler, and Barbara Alexander, first cousin of civil rights activist Rosa Parks, visited the St. Monica Catholic High School campus on Monday, February 22 as part of the Mariner Distinguished Speaker Series.  With the entire school community gathered in St. Monica Church, both Mr. Wiley and Mrs. Alexander spoke to students about the constant need to persevere, especially in the most difficult of times.

St. Monica Girls Soccer Defeats Cantwell, Wins League Title

2/12/10

Congratulations to the Camino Real League Champion Girls' Varsity Soccer team who defeated Cantwell yesterday 5-0.  Sophomore Taylor Dorris led the scoring with 2 goals, while feshman Daisy Gonzalez, and seniors Sarah Salarkia and Sandy Olguin had a goal each.  Senior Jessica Centeno had her 10th shut out of the season in goal.

The girls finished league undefeated with a record of 7-0-1. Congratulations Girls' Varsity soccer!  Good luck in playoffs!!

 

St. Monica Boys Basketball Captures League Championship

The St. Monica Boys Basketball team defeated the Mary Star Stars last night 55-48, securing the Camino Real League championship in the process and a potential top league seed once CIF-SS playoffs begin.

St. Monica Brings Home Academic Decathlon Victory

2/8/10

The St. Monica Catholic High School decathlon team recently participated in the 2010 Southern California Private Schools Academic Decathlon held at Bishop Alemany High School.  After two weekends of competition, the SMCHS Decathlon team was awarded the Division Overall and Super Quiz Championships.

Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on Thursday March 25th from 2:00pm-5:00pm and from 6:00pm-8:00pm.  Please click here to download the conference appointment form.  Forms are due no later than 2:00pm on Monday March 15th.

Mariner Snack Bar During Lenten Season

Our Mariner Snack Bar will be meat-free on Ash Wednesday and on Fridays during Lent.  Please encourage your Mariner to observe the tenets of Lent – Prayer, Almsgiving and Abstinence/Fasting.  Our snack bar will do its part to help us honor these Lenten practices and the SMCHS community will be preparing for Christ’s Resurrection in this and many other ways.

Spring Musical Announced

The SMCHS Performing Arts department is proud to announce this year's spring musical selection Seussical the Musical, based on the works of Dr. Seuss.  Interested students should see Ms. Janson, Mr. Archer, Ms. Blair, or Ms. O'Neill before Christmas break.
